AGE/GENDER/ELIGIBILITY

  • Across year R-6 (ie any or all), although recommended to split children (at least) separately into the following four categories: Year R; Years 1+2; Years 3+4; Years 5+6
  • Recommend particular focus on children who are less keen on participation in traditional team sport pursuits

PARTICIPANT NUMBERS

  • We will devise, in partnership with the client school) a structure that meets the numerical, facility, class etc needs of a given situation

DATES/TIMES

  • Flexible, subject to agreement between the client school and HDSD as provider (obviously taking into account availability of HDSD staff in linme with number required)

COST

  • To be addressed as part of the discussion with the school
  • Note that schools may wish to consider staffing some or all stations to reduce cost
  • It is also possible for HDSD just to hire the necessary equipment to schools so they can deliver entirely themselves
  • Training workshops, tailored as necessary to individual school needs, for teachers and support staff can also be provided on request to enable more independent delivery

  • Any necessary cancellation decision would be agrred by the client school and HDSD as the provider

Competition categories:

  • Year 3+4 girls

Scores of all participating children will be averaged to give a school score in the categories above

Children may opt-out of being part of the competition if they prefer but this is not possible after competition shots have been taken

GROUP SIZE

  • Maximum group size to be 12
  • A school can have as many groups participating as it wishes to request

DATES/TIMES

  • Competition window to run 1/1/20 to 13/7/20. Winner announced shortly after end of competition window.
  • Each group can receive as many sessions as desired in lead up to taking its competition-counting arrows. To illustrate: a school may receive one session only for its group(s) involving a quick practice and then competitive arrows OR may receive a series of six weekly sessions and take its competition shots on sixth week.
  • Session times per group to last between 40 and 60 minutes
  • Obviously the timetable for any given school will depend on a variety of factors and need to be subject to discussion and agreement

COST

  • 1 or 2 coach visits £45/hr; 3-5 coach visits £40/hr; 6+ coach visits £35/hr (prices inclusive of equipment use and transport).
  • Rates quoted above are based on a single coach. Double coach visits may be possible to achieve higher throughput - costs for this will be subject to negotiation.
  • Cost to be invoiced after delivery

WEATHER CONSIDERATIONS

  • If weather is poor the head coach will be in touch with the school at the earliest opportunity to discuss the best decision to be made for any planned day

KIT CONSIDERATIONS

  • All equipment provided
  • If weather cold children should have warm over-clothing available, especially whilst waiting for their turn

FORMAT GUIDANCE

Each school should provide a mixed team, with an equal number of boys and girls, somewhere between six and fifteen of each per team.

Arriving on the day, each team manger (teacher) should have a list of two boys and two girls to compete in each of the field events as well as one athlete (or team of athletes) to compete in the track events.

Maximum number of events (including team races) that any child can be nominated for is 5

The field events will be:

  • Standing Long Jump
  • Standing Vertical Jump
  • Chest Push
  • Speed Bounce
  • Target Throw
  • Javelin Throw

Track events will be:

  • 1 lap race
  • 2 lap race
  • 4x1 lap relay
  • 4x1 lap Hurdle Relay
  • 4x1 lap Over/Under Relay – involves hurdles and foam tunnels
  • 4x1 lap Obstacle Relay
  • 6 Lap Paarlauf  (two athletes required per team) – this is similar to a relay race (a baton is used)

There are separate boys and girls events for all the above...plus some non-scoring races depending on numbers so that everyone who wants to, gets to race.

  • Schools may draw from a squad of players rather than having to field same players each week
  • One team per school initially but if there is spare capacity by the entry deadline schools will be offered the opportunity to enter additional teams

  • It is not a requirement that teachers/school staff supervise their players although they can if they want to. Children will be appropriately supervised by the organisers. Parents are welcome to spectate and support
  • We will require this participant contact details sheet to be completed so we have emergency contacts of children if their teachers are not attending
